Sushi Ota

Sushi Ota may not look like much from outside but they have the best sashimi and nigiri in San Diego. Their sea urchin is spectacular. They normally have the freshest items on a crayon billboard. Order from the billboard!
However, it can be expensive if you get carried away.

best sushi in san diego. also love the seaweed salad or calamari salad. Reservations recommended for dinner.
Casual and comfortable atmosphere.

Tables at this place are always in such high demand that they have to kick you out as soon as the food has disappeared from the table. They also seem to be nicer if someone Japanese is in your party. That being said, the sushi is fantastic. This is always where I take out-of-towners and clients.

I've been here a handful of times and at the recommendation of many people. The food is good, not fantastic. Service is ok, but certainly not friendly. I don't know why this place is such a favorite. Don't get me wrong, the food is fine, but nothing worth standing in queue or making a reservation

The food was average, nothing special. However, the staff was most unprofessional. Our group of 6 arrived for our reservation on time a 6:00 PM on a Wednesday. The staff immediately warned us that we had to be finished by 7:30, or else!!! You would think they were giving it away for free. Also, they kept on forgetting items we ordered. If we would have had a bad memory, we probably would have never received all of our food.

This place is crowded and I agree with some of the other posters, waiting for a table even with a reservation can be very annoying. However the sushi and sashimi is great!

My boss knows the sushi chef trainer here and said it was good so i decided to try it out and it was pretty damn good!

The venue is not too bad and the food is good, but sushi deli #2 is my favorite

They really do serve the freshest sushi in San Diegoat least from my experience. Try to get a seat at the sushi bar..you will be exposed to specials that you might not hear about if you sit in the normal seating. A little priceybut so worth it.
