Gulf Coast Grill

I love this place. As someone who grew up on the Gulf Coast, I was skeptical about the quality of the food here to begin with. C'mon.I've had jambalaya in Nawlins, and okra in Okla. FIrst reaction..DAMN! A fried green tomato appetizer, followed by some hush puppies that my great aunt Pansy would have envied. This is the only place around to make me miss the South..

Take me home, country roads.

I can't say I've been wowed by Gulf Coast Grill, but I've always been happy with tasty food, good beer, pleasant service, and the fact it's not too crowded or noisy at least most of the time. Street parking can be a little tough at times.

Dim setting. At least there's a candle on the table to help you see.
Janablaya, red beanss nn rice, were pretty good.
Full bar.
Pricey for southern food which is po' folk grub.,,,but,this IS California, where every culture's food is trendy.

I can't say I've been wowed by Gulf Coast Grill, but I've always been happy with tasty food, good beer, pleasant service, and the fact it's not too crowded or noisy (at least on weeknights). Street parking can be a little tough at times. I think it's a bit pricey for what you get, but it's always a pleasant experience when I go there.

Tad bit pricey at dinner, never been for lunch.
Jambalaya is very tastey, rean bean and rice with sausage is bland for my taste.
Also, for us older types, you can barely read the menu due to all the candle-lite *ambiance* Take your glasses and a lighter.

To many non Cajun/Creole items: brie??? and Mojitos? Trying to hard to be upscale to attract that usual treny Hillcrest crowd.

.only time I can afford this place.
Monday is happy all day long.
Food's ok,,,but if your do dinner for two, and drinks, you'll come out on the poor side of a Benjamin, or worst.

Service is pretty good but the food is even better. Good selection on the menu and each time I go, I try something different and the quality remains the same. Wonderful place for a nice evening out including a pretty good happy hour as well.

I just have one thing to say Bring back the saucy shrimp!!!!
The mojitos are great- I also love the fried oysters and the catfish.

I just had brunch at Gulf Coast Grill this past weekend. We dined on the patio of this very comfortable, relaxing restaurant. The beignets were a fun way to start off and my companions and I all enjoyed our meals of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and eggs benedict. Service is friendly and welcoming. I have been here for dinner before and highly and enthusiastically recommend the crawfish ravioli. Delicious! At Gulf Coast, you will find New Orleans cuisine done well. The restaurant always makes me feel as though I have found a great little secret right here in San Diego. I can't wait to go back. A big lucky paw five to Gulf Coast Grill!
