I love this place. Fast Service. Friendly people. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Great!

this place is a hidden gem its a great little breakfast spot. The chorizo omelet was great the home fries served family style. the friendly staff made us feel like we were at home. i love how they serve avocado with every thing in California.

Yes, I'm prejudiced because I'm such a regular, but that means I know The Big Kitchen all too well. That warm, safe, friendly feeling of coming home greets every visitor, from local to tourist, regular to occasional. The Big Kitchen is the essence of "community" -- political, music, arts, local, even spiritual -- and the homemade comfort food seems always to be just what you were looking for. The BK's email newsletter gives you a good idea of what's going on, why and when. Sign up while you're there. One correction to the Citysearch listing -- the Big Kitchen is open daily from 8am to 2pm. Yes, there's often a wait for a Sunday table, but there's free coffee and friendly conversation on the Grape Street Square while you wait.

This neighborhood restaurant serves up generous portions of french toast, eggs and chorizo, omelettes and more that will not only fill you up but satisfy your taste buds too. The freshly baked muffins are wonderful.

You have to know about this place to know it exists, and parking can be a problem. On the flip side, it is really homey. They have amazingly big, delicious pancakes. And they will literally make you anything you want! Cute neighborhood place. And if you are lucky, momma will come in for a visit. She is this really friendly, jolly woman with a great big laugh!

Small and quirky place but GREAT food! I was happy to be burping up the rosemary potatoes all day long.
Great breakfast and decent prices.

The Big Kitchen is notably fantastic for breakfast and atmosphere. Every time I have come here the food is amazing, the service is amazing. The only things I dislike about this place is the size, location, and parking issues. It's a very popular place and since the restaurant itself is small it takes forever to get a table, that if you can find parking (personally we sneak off across the street to the grocery store.shhhh.don't tell anyone, lol). Good for groups when not busy (which is almost never, lol). They don't take reservations, which would help in terms of the showing up only to find out that they won't have seating for 2 hours. It is also a cash only place. The food/service/breakfast atmosphere deserve 5 stars, but because of other minute problems it's looses stars. This place is too big for its' britches. 5 star restaurant, 1 star for convenience. 3 star rating over all.

Make sure that you are hungry here. I was so full. I love the atmosphere the staff was friendly and I had a blast.

You have to have a Big Kitchen to put out the size of breakfasts that they do. A very popular place for the neighborhood locals, especially on weekends. You might want to go back to bed after a meal like this!!!
