Sother Pork Chops n Greens
Ok people!! Yall are trippin, this spot is da bomb, the problem is that yall aint use to soulfood. La Mesa/Fletcher Hills is not exactly full of hood rats.....especially when there is a Souplantation next door full of Valley Gurl, Paris Hilton, salad eatin types. Try the the fried chicken is great and plentiful; smothered pork chops were great ad the collard greens perfectly cooked.

Disappointed
Our family moved here Summer 07 from New Orleans and were expecting a lot more from this restaurant. Portions were very small for the price. Didn't use real 'french bread' for the poboys and very few shrimp. Still looking for good southern food in San Diego....

Huh???
Well... can't tell you if I like this place or not. I am not sure if their business is doing well because, each time (twice) I have gone there it has been CLOSED! Let me clarify... even though we have been there before the posted closing hours on the door and outside bannner (which are different, by the way)... IT IS STILL CLOSED! My husband and I even called in the parking lot on the second occassion and the person that answered the phone "bascially" stated that it was up to the manager's discretion as to when the store closed. I really wanted to try this place out... but, is the effort really worth it! Not on my list of places with great service and the food... well, obviously, I don't know and I am not willing to try it at this point.

this is good, but definately not southern
Fix Me A Plate Cafe tries to 'serve' southern style comfort food. The food is good, but sorry it's not really southern. I suggested to the manager to send his cooks to a few southern states to really learn what "soul food" or "southern" foods really are.

Not so authentic southern place
I'm from New Orleans so I know what southern food is like, and this is not it. I ordered the jambalaya and it was way over spicy, and covered in paprika. My family ordered other classic southern dishes and we were not too impressed.

Rib Sticking Food
I have been *down south*. In the south you got two types of home cooking and BBQ: country(white) and *hood*(black). This is *hood* style, which fits my bill just fine. No frills, just good food. Tad overpriced, but the again this IS Fletcher Hills/La Mesa. Need to move to Southeast SD: cheaper rent=cheaper prices.

Still waiting for SD to have real southern cookin'
My parents stopped in to try this place out, Dad is from North Carolina and for the past 30 yrs has been trying to find to fill those comfort food needs. Once again he was disappointed. He said the gizzards were so tough it was like rubber, he also mentioned that the greens were "oddly" flavored and overly so. Maybe these folks need to take some time down south and figure out how to make the foods that people are craving.
