Project Head Start is a federally funded program that was created in 1965, with the intention of providing children from poor families with a program that helps them develop the skills necessary for success in school. Children from the ages of 3 to 5 are eligible for the Head Start program. Head Start works closely with the child?s family to ensure that their needs are being met. Head Start programs are based throughout San Diego at a number of school campuses.
