Rite Aid Pharmacies

Small, but friendly
I ventured into Rite Aid in Paseo Nuevo outdoor mall for some travel necessities. It's a very old timey location, small, cramped (2 feet between aisles cramped), small Pharmacy. But overall they had all the essentials and a ton of deals and low prices. The customer service was very friendly and quick. Not convenient too parking (street or pay the 1.50 in a garage - not too shabby) so combine the trip with other stores for sure. Aside from its flow and size it deserves 4 stars.

Upper upper class feel, upper middle class price
I absolutely love this place. Despite the fancy table settings and moderately expensive food, it's the least pretentious despite being in Montecito. This is definitely not the place for a starving student, but certainly is if you want to feel like a million bucks. The food was amazing. Some of the best risotto I have had in a long long while. You'd think you were paying $30-$50 per plate at this plate, but really the prices are much lower than that. The staff was very attentive and fancy, which was nice for lunch. It was pretty quiet in there despite the large family at the table nearby. I guess the place would have to be packed and the tons of people out, say a weekend night, for it to be loud. But for lunch it was great. My step mom had their burger carbless and says its the best burger she's ever had. This is definitely a fancy restaurant, pricey for the rest of us lower-middle class folk, but you get that upper upper class feel for upper middle class price. So in terms of value vs. quality, they receive 5 stars for me. Cordial, attentive customer service. Very polite, responsive and quick service. Try the risotto with mozzarella and chicken, its amazing. The fetuchinne con mare e monti was also delish as well. So if you want to blow some money on absolutely yummo food and feel its more than worth it, come here. Best part - you can go casual too.

They should not even be in the food business.
For the most part I enjoy Fatburger for its greesy all American style burgers at reasonable prices. Not this location, however. The burgers, no doubt, were okay, good but not great like other locations. Food-wise this is not a good place to take a newbie to Fatburger as it will leave an a-ok impression on them. It's location was convenient, but the bathroom situation and the ridiculously high prices absolutely ruined the whole experience for me. $6 for a burger or $5 for a baby burger (which was smaller than the burger in a mcdonalds kids meal folks), no fries no drink. Absolutely an utter waste of money. Once I ventured to use the state required facilities I come to realize the women's facilities were not only out of order, but in the middle of construction and had been for weeks without another option for use and no warning up front otherwise. So I go to use the only bathroom available for use, the mens bathroom - and what a huge mistake. This place looked like it had not been cleaned in months. Graffiti on the walls, the stench appauling, trash, stains and human waste everywhere, absolutely NO protective seat covers (not even an empty container for one), no soap, nothing hygeinic or usable about the bathroom and if someone had cleaned it that week, let alone that day, it would not have been that horrible.Avoid this location altogether. They should not even be in the food business.

The Red Room

I pretty much stopped being a fan of the Red Room
I pretty much stopped being a fan of the Red Room when shows there got to be too irritating to go to. It used to be a nice little venue for local bands but somehow they stopped catering to locals. The Red Room is still Red in decor. The staff was ok back in the day, friendly quick service. But as the place got busier and busier it was almost imposssible to get a drink quickly or move around in. The place isn't kept up nicely and the bathrooms were just hideous. With so much venue competition downtown and other places to get your drink on you'd find much better atmosphere's elsewhere.

Flea market and movies - great place
Ok so this is a review not just for the flea market but the Drive in as well. The skyview is awesome for the drive in experience, which seems to be disappearing all over California and pretty much everywhere. ON the weekends they host the flea market which is spectatuculat. A few bucks and you can propr up your table and tent in a parking space and sell your wares, yard sale goodies or pretty much anything legal to the public. This place gets super crowded as the flea market seems to be the main time people go. But if you want to see a great movie, 50s style, come here. Its a great place for friends, for dates whatever and they play the movies you'd see in the theaters. They do try to keep the place clean, but keeping up with the crowds is often difficult for such a large place so I give them credit for trying to keep things cheap too. I really hope this place stays the way it is long enough....we have to keep it going. There aren't that many great flea markets around nor are their Drive in Theatres and this the Skyview needs to stay. Keep those developers away!....

Casual dining experience
I actually had a decent dining experience here. The view is spectacular right off the harbor area. There was almost no wait for a table and the servers were very nice. Service was an average pace...not slow at all. Our meal was pretty good, not the best but still tasty. It was a bit pricey for what you get portion wise, but pretty much right on the money to other places in the same genre. Although I would worry about quality if a place was serving super cheap fresh seafood. The food came out hot and tasty. It was a very casual experience set into the cruise/ship like decor.

Pet Emporium is your average pet shop.
Pet Emporium is your average pet shop. Sometimes I come in and its well stocked and clean, other times it's not. This place acts like a mom and pop, especially with the selection and the sale of pets, but the staff seem to not know much about what they sell or about pets in general. So unless you know what you are coming for, don't expect acknowledgable help unless the owner themselves is there. The service is pretty inconsistent this way and although it was pleasant it was spectacular or much different than heading off to Petco or something.

Best around
I absolutely love this breakfast eatery! Some of the best breaksfast dishes around. Warning though be prepared to stand around in line waiting for a table. As much as the owners to try to expand the size of the place it's almost impossible because the place reallly rivals any other breakfast restuarant and it is soooooo popular. Wouldn't it be great to have another Zachary's pop up somewhere....lol.
I happen to like Mike's Mess...the name really describes what it is...so if you don't like your foods altogether or are a picky eater its not your type of dish...everytime I have had it was flavorful, and you can tell they use the best and freshest ingredients, which makes a world of difference. I have tried to replicate the dishes from here at home and never seem to get it right so they must be doing something totally awesome I have yet to figure out. The omelets are so good, the french toast or other carby dishes are heavenly, and the coffee and OJ are really good. The prices are actually pretty cheap for the portions you get and by comparison to other breakfast eateries in the state, I truly haven't found a place that comes close to what Zachary offers for it's prices...that's saying a lot. Inside the place feels more like a cafe and the decor stays true for old school SC culture with it's old world charm, which I like....This is a must experience place if you are in town, if not once a month!

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Still a fun place that will last another 100 years
Granted the Boardwalk isn't by far the best in the country but it's a great place to go. You have carnival and amusement park types rides, including the Giant Dipper, much like the Giant Dipper in Belmont Park here in San Diego. Although the whole boardwalk I think is much better than Belmont. There is more activity, the best is literally right there, the view is gorgeous, Neptune's Kingdom gives that arcade/mini golf and there is always something to do and funny people to watch. Although there is security here, it's just not enough and the place isn't kept clean very often but I think this isn't Seaside Company's fault, but of neglectful visitors, who come in droves and just generally disrespectful of the place. Its a shame because the whole place still retains its 1930's architectural charm, all the amenities from the 30s-80s in place and that small town charm. If you have ever seen the Lost Boys, you'll see the Boardwalk and funny enough it's not much different except maybe the style of people and some vendors have changed. The pier is also there with nice restuarants and a place where you can see sea lions up close and personal. Absolutely gorgeous at night when the Dipper is all lit up, which lights up the railroad tressle that hangs over the San Lorenzo River. Really a great place to chill, take pictures, or to have a bit of fun at a reasonable pace. So rating the Boardwalk considering everything it has to offer, how it maintains its history and what obstacles it faces

Fantastic retreat
Now if you are squeamish about being naked around others or seeing naked people thi might not be your type of place. But you can be in a bathing suit and use their private tubs. I love that this is a house they have turned into a retreat. Very relaxng. Hot/cold tubs, private tubs, sitting room, changing areas, saunas the full nine here. You can sit and relax cheaply while drinking tea self service style. Outside is gorgeous, zen like gardens decorate the back yard. Very friendly staff and quite possibly one of the best in town overall.
